Protect your privacy online

You always have to keep in mind that the internet is the fastest growing communication medium. Once you have given something up on a public website it will be available to the whole world to view or at least to the world that is connected to the internet. You have to keep this always in the back of your mind. Once you have masters this it is a small step to protect your privacy online.

information for profiles

Putting this rule to internet dating you will have to be carefully what information about yourself you are going to put in your public profile. Remember this is a public profile. Yes, part of it will be only visible to paying or non paying members from the dating sites. In most cases (if not all) there will be no need to make personal data like e-mail, phone number, address, etc... public. Only your personal e-mail will be asked when enrolling for the dating site but this will be for administrative purposes only. Or this should be for this purpose only. If this is not the case don't join the site and find a different one. Your personal e-mail should not be accessible to the members of the dating site.

e-mail

There is already a article about e-mail. I will just recap the most important. Find a good free online e-mail address an make one only for dating purpose. This will have several advantages. Easy to keep track of what is dating and what is personal mail and make sure you never use your work e-mail for this. You can make an e-mail with your handel from the dating sites you are using.

surfing dating sites

When surfing on dating sites make sure they are trusted sites. The once who are linked in this site will be all trusted sites. What do I mean with this. These sites won't send any viruses or mall ware. There will be no infection wit malicious software from your computer. If you are surfing at home you will be safe to do whatever you like. There will be no one looking over your shoulder. Remember if you are surfing on a different location that everything you are sending to and from the internet will be prone to be viewed by a third party. For instance at your work. Unless you are the boss and have full control over internet aces there will be someone monitoring the internet use from the employees. Not only do you risk that someone gets aces to your data but also, and this is the case in most big firms, to lose your job for unlawfully use from company resources. This would be a really dumb thing to do and try to explain to your boss you where surfing dating sites during workhouses. Unless you are working for a dating agencies. :-)

When you give what information

This is an easy one and in the same breath a very hard one to answer. Remember that with dating you are interacting with people and it is not always easy to tell who can be trusted and who not. Especially after only one date and maybe some e-mails. The best advice I can give is to use your common sense and only give out personal information when you feel comfortable doing so. Don't let anyone bully you into giving out information you prefer not to give.
If you do get to a first date try to do it in a public place and don't make it to formal. This is not only good dating advice but will also help to create a relaxing mood and that is what we want. No?
